MSU Gran Fondo – MORE THAN A RIDE
The inaugural “Big Ride” was a big success! To our participants and donors, we share another Italian phrase; “molte grazie” – we are grateful for your support and involvement that exceeded our wildest expectations. The very cool thing about collective effort is how, at the end of the day, we all share in the resulting impact. Together, we raised over $148,000 and created a special, signature experience with lasting and far-reaching impact.
Funds raised from the inaugural Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Gran Fondo will support MSU skin cancer research. These dollars will fund pilot studies – investigative, next-step research that tests findings and enables a scientific study to continue. For MSU scientists, that means exploring new approaches to overcoming drug resistance that is all too common in patients receiving treatment for advanced stages of melanoma, the deadliest form of cancer.
Gear up for 2014!
The inaugural MSU College of Human Medicine drew a sold out crowd of 1,500 cyclists from across the United States and Canada. We anticipate another maximum capacity ride in 2014.
